The Power of Nature

In breathwork we use the power of breath to break through stress and invite the universal truths of love, joy and peace into our hearts. These truths are reflected in the world around us each day - in the song of a bird, the light through the trees, the fresh smell of grass. That is the power of nature - the power to help us expand love, joy and peace in our lives.

Researchers in Finland have found that even 20-minute visits to nature areas have positive effects and stress relief. This finding is further supported by a study in Edinburgh, where participants who took a 25-minute walk through a path of green space showed lower frustration levels versus their study counterparts who walked through a shopping center or commercial area.

As noted by Ralph Waldo Emerson in his essay, Nature:

“In the woods, we return to reason and faith. There I feel that nothing can befall me in life—no disgrace, no calamity (leaving me my eyes), which nature cannot repair. Standing on the bare ground—my head bathed by the blithe air and uplifted into infinite space—all mean egotism vanishes. I become a transparent eyeball; I am nothing; I see all; the currents of the Universal Being circulate through me; I am part or parcel of God. The name of the nearest friend sounds then foreign and accidental; to be brothers, to be acquaintances, master or servant, is then a trifle and a disturbance. I am the lover of uncontained and immortal beauty.”

Each day you are given opportunity to expand joy, love and peace in your life. You just need to take the time to shift your focus and see the forest for the trees.
